WOMEN'S SOCCER: BIG MATCH-UP ENDS IN DRAW

In a much-anticipated Orange Empire Conference match-up, the FC women's soccer team took on Cypress College on the road on Tuesday with the game ending in a 2-2 tie.

The game's result helped keep the logjam at the top of the conference standings in tact with the Hornets (7-2-3 overall, 4-1-3 OEC) remaining in third place, and the Chargers (6-4-2, 5-1-2 OEC) narrowly holding on to second place. Santiago sits in the top spot in first with a one-game lead.

FC controlled most of the first half's time of possession, but neither team was able to break the 0-0 stalemate heading into the half.

The Hornets came out in the second half with the same vigor as the first scoring early in the 48th minute. Brooke Morris used her leg strength to power a shot through the goal keeper's hands.

Cypress quickly followed up with a goal of their own in the 58th minute on a shot by Kristin Avila (assist Meagan Smith). The Chargers added another goal three minutes later on a free kick by Mary Dynda.

Down 2-1 late into the game, Fullerton did not fold in the face of an impending defeat. As the minutes ticked away from the clock, FC's Tatsiana Loscutoff headed one in on a corner lock by Alyssa Madrigal in the 87th minute killing any chance of a conference defeat to the district rival.

Hornet goal keeper Savannah Dyer had 5 saves on the day.

Up Next: FC (7-2-3 overall, 4-1-3 conference) will play another conference game on Tuesday, October 17th at home against Golden West College. Game time is at 3:00 pm.
