WOMEN'S SOCCER: HORNETS LEAVE IT ALL ON THE FIELD

The #14 Hornets ended their season on Saturday night against #3 Rio Hondo College with a 3-1 loss in the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Fullerton came into the game feeling good after earning a 3-0 playoff win over Ventura College, but Saturday night at Rio Hondo College proved to be the Roadrunner's game as they scored two devastating goals in the first ten minutes. Madison Marder kicked in the maiden goal at 3:45 and Vivi Ramirez followed up with another at 7:51.

With just under five minutes left in the first half, FC's Brianna Remedios cut the score in half knocking in the ball past the Rio Hondo goalie.

Although the Hornets worked hard to out-gain their opponent in the second half, the Roadrunners held them off scoring another goal in the 62nd minute. Stephanie Arreola delivered her second assist of the game to Sam Garcia, who scored the game's final goal.

It was an amazing run for Fullerton finishing the 2017 season with an overall record of 12-7-3 and achieving their first-ever playoff victory.  Coach Pam Lewin, the rest of the coaching staff, and the team should be proud of their outstanding season. With a solid core of returners and incoming freshmen, the sky is the limit for the 2018 season.
