WOMEN'S SOCCER: HORNET OFFENSE ON FIRE

The Hornets put on a show in front of the home crowd on Tuesday winning an Orange Empire Conference showdown against Santa Ana 5-1.

In the last 5 games, the Hornets have out-scored their opponents 19-4 with two players locking down hat tricks in the last two games. Ashley Slouka did it last Friday against Irvine Valley and now Kaelah Basurto on Wednesday against the Dons. In those 5 games both Slouka and Basurto both have scored 6 goals.

Basurto knocked down a penalty kick in the 8th minute to put Fullerton up 1-0.

Santa Ana responded at 13:55 with a solo shot by Leyna Wood to tie it up.

FC took over for good in the 38th minute when Mia Bannon fed Basurto the ball scoring her second goal on the day.

Slouka knocked in a goal in the 62nd minute with the assist by Victoria Arrieta. Soon after, in the 63rd minute, Arrietta got in on the action surprising the Dons with another goal.

Basurto added her third goal in the 72nd minute to finish the game. Slouka was credited with the assist.

The Hornet defense, Monica Balos, and Kayla Ippolito kept the Don offense at bay. Balos had 4 saves while Ippolito had 2 stops.

Up Next: Fullerton (8-1 overall, 3-0 conference) will be back in action this Friday, October 11th when they host Saddleback College. Game time is at 3:00 pm. Come on out and support your Hornets!
