WOMEN'S SOCCER: ALL CHARGED UP FOR TIE

The Hornets played their final regular season home game against sister-school Cypress College on Tuesday and ended the game on a 0-0 tie.

The two rival teams have been trying to knock one other down a notch in the Orange Empire Conference standings all season, and both times they played each other this season the results were the same... a tie. The Chargers (10-0-3) remain atop the OEC standings while FC (5-4-4) sits in fourth place.

As for the game, it was another back-and-forth physical battle with both teams nearly missing a shot or the goalies (Jayda Steele- Cypress, and Minica Balos-Fullerton) making tough stops.

With just under 30 seconds left in the match, Fullerton had an excellent opportunity to win the game when Jacqueline Ramirez took a place kick from 25 yards out. The ball sailed to the muddled-mix of Charger and Hornet players jockeying for position, but Cypress goalie Jayda Steele came out of the crowd snatching the ball out of the air. Seconds later the final whistle blew ending the game in a tie.

Fourteen sophomores were honored before the game in Kayla Ippolito, Audrey Ochoa, Daniela Perez, Georgia Vidal, Katherine Stangl, Kaelah Basurto, Ryan Barton, Victoria Arrieta, Ivaneli Marino, Skyler Van Voorhis, Samantha Duran, Melissa Flores-Salas, Regina Sanchez-Molina, and Ashley Slouka

Up Next: The Hornets (10-5-4 overall, 5-4-4 conference) will play their final game of the regular season this Friday, November 15th when they travel to Golden West College. Game time is at 3:00 pm.
