WOMEN'S TENNIS: HORNETS COMPETE IN STATE TOURNEY

The Hornets lost on Friday in the round of 32 for singles and then in round 16 for doubles at the State Championship Tournament in Ojai.

They were good matches overall with great efforts put forth. In singles, sophomore Alexandra Altamirano represented Fullerton with class and honor getting edged out 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 against Taylor Galya of Consumnes River.

The FC doubles team of Alexandra Altamirano and Kalie Laubie performed well beating Ventura College's Leah Meschke and Bailey Sindle in the first round 6-3-76. In the second round, the ladies fell 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 to Iren Feher and Srna Lepchevska of Santa Monica College.

"It was exciting to see how well we did considering we were pretty beat up by this point in the season. It was really good to have them back in post-season play again, and we plan on coming back next season to compete as well", Hornet Head Coach Yolanda Duron.

Fullerton College Coach Akhom Inthavong was named as the ITA Regional JUCO Assistant Coach of the Year.
