WOMEN'S TENNIS: EDGED BY GAUCHOS
On Thursday, the FC women's tennis team was edged out by Orange Empire Conference rival Saddleback College 4-5.
Unable to win the first doubles match by her teammates, Kim La along with Kelsi Salazar-Sarti defeated Kimiya Ataiyana and Abril Marziali in a strong defensive performance 8-1. In the final doubles match before going into singles competition, Lael Cardinal and Mayumi Okubo came up short in a heartbreaker 9-7.
In singles, Saddleback College took the first three matches, but Fullerton battled back with Mayumi Okubo taking her match 6-4, 6-2 putting Fullerton back in the winning path. Lael Cadinal took control of her singles match and she shut down her opponent winning 6-0, 6-0. Even though the Hornets lost a close one, Kim La swept her doubles and singles match.
Up Next: The Hornets (6-4 overall, 1-2 OEC) will host Irvine Valley College on Tuesday, March 6th at 2:00 pm. With a game time of 2:00 pm, FC will visit Orange Coast College on Thursday, March 8th.
