TENNIS: HORNETS PLAY IN STATE TOURNEY

The Hornets represented well in the CCCAA State Championships in Ojai this past weekend.

For men's singles, Rodrigo Onante fell in the first round to San Diego City's Manuel Cardona 6-2, 6-0.

Jose Bernardo Villas Flores finished in the top 64 after defeating Robert Smith of Reedley College 6-0, 6-1. Flores went on to lose to Ventura College's Solal Cherqui 6-2, 7-6 (3).

In men's doubles-play, FC's team of Moises Esteves and Thiago Belfort Manzano fell in round 128 to San Diego Mesa's Sasha Kovacevic and Balraj Sangha 6-4, 6-2. Toan Trinh and Chris Enciso fell to Adam Ellestad and Brandon Sullivan from Grossmont 6-3, 6-3.

In women's doubles, Fullerton's Lael Cardinal and Kim La beat their first round opponents Julie Lauinger and Leah Meschke of Ventura College 6-7 (4), 6-1, and 10-6. They ended their season in the top 64 falling to Anjelica Frank and Abriana Rowe of Folsom Lake College 6-3, 6-3.

We all worked really hard this semester and we put our heart out there on the courts.
