WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: ARNIE ROBINSON INVITE

The Hornets competed at San Diego Mesa College on last Friday for the Arnie Robinson Invitational.

With the help of some excellent weather, a few marks improved for the Hornets as they gear up for conference championships nearly a month away.

On the field side, Marianne Gourd improved her shot put mark and finished in second place (only by four inches) with a toss of 36' 2.25" (ranks her fifth in the OEC). In her other event, the hammer, Gourd finished in sixth place. She had a huge throw however fouled it and will have to wait for that effort to come out in the next meet.

Kailani Talag finished in fifth place 32' 3.25" with the shot put and placed seventh in the javelin a couple feet below her best mark.

Yessenia Gutierrez competed in the hammer and discus and continues to work on some things with her technique and will look for her marks to move at the next meet.

Daniela Juarez had a PR in the long jump with a 14' 10" jump only a few inched away from the 15-foot mark. She grabbed sixth place and teammate Shyleen Ramos finished right behind her.

Shyleen Ramos competed in her first 200-meter race of the season with a 29.35 time and finished sixth in the 400 meters.

Jordyn Reese ran for sixth place in the 100-meters running the exact time she finished with last week (12.93). Reese's 200-meter time was 27.85

Teammates Liz Pean and Daniela Juarez were competing for the finish line as Liz crossed the line first with 13.86 and 13.89 respective times.

"Our efforts are in the right place for the team. The energy is good and need to keep it pushing forward to gear up for the OEC at Riverside City College on April 21st", said Head Coach Gina Bevec.
