WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: GOOD THINGS IN THE RAIN

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: GOOD THINGS IN THE RAIN

The Lady Hornets competed under cloudy skies and rain on Saturday at the Occidental College Distance Carnival Classic.

Kimberly Mataia pushed her mark another foot in the shot put for a personal record (PR) of 35' 10".

"I feel I have a bigger throw to give out there", said Mataia.

Teammate Marianne Gourd threw just as far in her events as she did the previous week with no improvements this week.

Philliz Tu'avao has been working on her technique and it is coming along as she threw the discus under the raining skies.

"Throws won't go as far under these conditions, however to come close to their season best efforts is good", Head Coach Bevec.

Belen Banda Gonzalez ran a quick two laps in 2:39.71 for the 800M and locked down a PR for herself.

Maricruz Vargas ran her first collegiate 5K with a good first effort in 21:12.76 under the raining climate.

Josephine Riese ran very close to her best effort in the 100M with a 15.17 time.

"Overall, this meet was a good meet to compete alongside other community colleges we have not seen and four-year universities.  It has always been a good meet to attend", said Coach Bevec.

Up Next: The Orange Coast Classic on Friday, March 16th. Field Events start at 10:00 am with the Track beginning at noon.
