The FC women's volleyball team took on undefeated Orange Coast College at home on Wednesday and handed the Pirates their first loss 3-1 (25-14, 1925, 25-22, 26-24).
The win preserves Fullerton's undefeated season at 9-0 overall and 2-0 in the Orange Empire Conference. OCC's loss lands them at 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the OEC.
The Hornets opened up the first set on fire taking a 5-0 lead and then making quick work of the Pirates. The Pirates, however, had some fight and took the second set taking advantage of Fullerton's mistakes. The third and fourth sets featured impressive digs that led to some very long rallies with the Hornet taking both to win the match.
Once again, Madalene Barrett led the Hornets accumulating 16 kills, 3 aces, and 20 digs. Briana Cervantes came up with 12 kills, 2 assists, and 2 digs while Alanna Hayhurst had 7 kills with 18 digs. Celeste Snider had 30 digs and managed 3 consecutive aces. Kristen Santos delivered 20 assists with 15 digs and Tiffany Cobian had 13 assists with 12 digs.
