WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: NEAR UPSET

The FC women's volleyball team nearly beat Orange Coast College at home Monday night, but the Pirates held on for the conference win three games to two.

It was sophomore night for the Hornets with the second season volleyballers playing their final Fullerton College home game. There were teams from other FC sports there to support the young ladies in football, soccer, water polo, baseball, and men's volleyball.

The Hornets dropped game one 20-25, but their determined play proved that it was not going to be an easy night for Orange Coast.

Fullerton took game two 25-21, and then went on to win game three by the same score. The Pirates were on their heels.

The Hornets were up in what could have been the match-winning fourth set, but OCC came storming back to edge FC 24-26.

With nothing left to give, Fullerton went on to lose the fifth and final game 8-15.

Lauren Schaffer was the team kill leader for Fullerton with 13. Catherine Serna followed that with 11 kills and Kaylyn Johnson brought down 10. Kailyn Case had a busy night with 43 assists, 7 kills and 3 aces.
