For the second consecutive season, the Hornets won the Orange Empire Conference title after defeating Riverside City College 10-9 on Saturday at the OEC Tournament hosted by Golden West College.

Fullerton had steamrolled past Golden West College 10-3 in the semi-final game on Friday putting two of the top teams in the state against one another. 

It was the fourth time that the Tigers and Hornets battled this season with Fullerton winning three out of four games.

RCC grabbed a 3-1 lead in the first quarter, but the Hornets came storming back in the second scoring 4 goals by Kelly Doherty (2), Abigail Nunez, and Briana Portales. By halftime, the score was all tied up at 5-5.

April Alvarez tossed in 2 goals while Alexandra Lopez and Bryanna Santis scored 2 more giving FC a 9-7 edge heading into the fourth quarter.

Riverside fought back in the fourth to tie the game up at 10 apiece on goals by Kadee Torres-Guererro, however Abigail Nunez knocked down the final goal of the game with time winding down that clinched the title for Fullerton for the second year in a row.

Fullerton goal keeper Tatiana Cava was solid between the posts with 16 saves and 2 assists.
