W. WATER POLO: HORNETS ARE STATE BOUND!

The Hornets qualified for the State Finals this past weekend at the SoCal Regional Tournament down in Chula Vista at Southwestern College.

The No. 2 seeded Fullerton had to get through two Orange Empire Conference rivals in Riverside City College and Orange Coast College. 

On Friday, FC opened with a strong 14-9 win over Riverside City. Neida Torres put up 5 goals, while Charley Jackson tossed in 3 along with 4 steals. Tarsis Ledezma and Adrianna Wong chipped in with 3 assists each.

In the semi-final on Saturday, the Hornets sunk the Pirates of Orange Coast 8-5. Julissa Velazquez put the team on her shoulders pumping in 5 goals, had 2 assists, and 2 steals. Other goals were had by Neida Torres, Adrianna Wong, and Emily Jack. The victory propelled the Hornets to SoCal Regional Championship game and qualified the team for the State Championship Tournament next weekend.

In the SoCal Final on Saturday, the Hornets had to face off against No. 1 Santa Barbara City College, who had beaten FC in its last three meetings this season by a one-point margin. Fullerton would have to settle as the SoCal Regional Runner-up as they met the same fate losing by a point 10-9. Julissa Velasquez led the way with 3 goals, while Tarsis Ledezma, Jordyn Lughart, Neida Torres, Charley JacksonAmanda Ellerbroek, and Adrianna Wong each scored a goal.

Up Next: The Hornets (28-7 overall) will play West Valley College at Las Positas College on Friday, November 19th.
