WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: GOLDEN WEST INVITATIONAL

The Lady Hornets ran in their third competition of the season grabbing 10th out of 15 teams at the Golden West Invitational last Friday.

The event was held at Huntington Beach's Central Park. Cassidy Nyenhuis had a personal time of 21:57 for the 5K course consisting of dirt paths and grass. Maricruz Vargas followed 17 seconds behind Cassidy.

"These ladies are doing a great job with closing the one-two gap", claimed Head Coach Gina Bevec.

Jessica Garcia is consistently solidifying her third spot and Diana Valdovinos, Sydney Castaneda, and Kaitlyn Holy crossed the line for our fourth, fifth and sixth runners.

FC's four, five and sixth runners are figuring out how to group and stay within two places of each other in the race.

"We are looking for that group to be closer to Jessica in every race" said Bevec.  "As the ladies continue to be consistent with their training, in time it will carry over in to our race plan strategy."

Daniela Hernandez continues to chip away at her racing performance and shaved off two minutes from last year's race time.

"I worked hard all spring semester and I am starting to see my perseverance paying off", said Hernandez.
