WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: THIRD PLACE AT BRUBAKER

Running in the Brubaker Inviational at Irvine Regional Park last Friday, the Lady Hornets finished 3rd out of ten southern California teams with 118 points.

The women's team had a few of their teammates down with sicknesses and the mighty five ladies did a great job running their best team race of the season.

This week Cassidy Nyenhuis and Maricruz Vargas finished in 11th and 13th place overall with a 12 second difference in between them out of 69 runners. Kaitlyn Holt had almost a two minute PR on the course from last year shaving two minutes off her time and finished as third woman for the Hornets. Jessica Garcia and Dian Valdovinos crossed the line as fourth and fifth woman only 40 seconds apart from one another.

"The course is a well known course that many have run on from their high school days. Having the hill at the beginning of the second mile made it easy to push it coming off the hill and working the flat and fast last mile", said Hornet head coach Gina Bevec .

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the teams supported the cause wearing pink socks and inspiring bracelets.

Up Next: The Hornets will run at the Mt. San Antonio College Invite on Friday, October 13th.  Race Time is at 9:00 am.
