HORNETS GET IT GOING FOR THE SEASON OPENER

HORNETS GET IT GOING FOR THE SEASON OPENER: The FC baseball squad shined on Friday beating Oxnard College 5-2.

Down 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, FC scored 3 runs to take the lead.  In the bottom sixth, C Oliver Jackson gave the Hornets a little insurance with a solo homerun over the left field ivy.

Fullerton starter Jeff Curran got the win going 5 innings with 6 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 strikeouts and no walks.  RP Troy Mulcahey went 2 innings with 2 strikeouts and no walks.  Sean Michael threw 2 innings with 3 strikeouts to earn the save.

Offensively, Jackson had 2 hits (HR), 2 runs, and 3 RBIs.  CF Dakota Wix had 2 hits and RF Ryan Joyce had 1 hit with 1 RBI.  1B Garrett Donohoe and Urial Salinas each had a hit and a run.  SS Fernando Escobar had 1 hit as well.

Up Next: FC (1-0 overall) will play at home this Saturday, February 2nd against West L.A. College.  Game time is at 10:00 am.  On Tuesday, February 5th FC hits the road against Mt. SAC.  Game time is at 2:00 pm.
