FC TAKES CARE OF BUSINESS

FC TAKES CARE OF BUSINESS: Irvine Valley's baseball team couldn't stop streaking Fullerton on Saturday in an Orange Empire Conference game at IVC.

The Hornets won their 10th straight conference game, beating Irvine Valley, 14-6. Fullerton, which improved its record to 21-7 overall and 11-2 in conference, stayed three games clear of any other conference team at the top of the standings with the win.  Fullerton also won the season series over Irvine Valley, 2-1.

Irvine Valley led, 3-1 after four innings, Fullerton rallied with four runs in the top of the sixth to go up 5-3.  The Hornets busted the game open with five runs in the top of the seventh to take a 10-3 lead.

The deciding blow in the sixth inning for Fullerton was a two-run double by Erik Lewis.

In the seventh inning, two runs scored on an IVC throwing error and Mulcahey had a two-run single up the middle. Seven of Fullerton's first 10 runs were unearned thanks to two costly errors by Irvine Valley.

Sophomore lefty Jeff Curran improved his record to 6-1 on the season for Fullerton, going seven innings and allowing three runs (one earned) on nine hits, two walks and one hit batter with six strikeouts.
