BASEBALL: TOUGH TIMES FOR THE HORNETS

The Hornets fell at home 5-3 Saturday to Riverside City College losing six out of the last seven games.

The loss knocks Fullerton back in the Orange Empire Conference race at 8-8 and 18-11 overall. The Tiger win bumps them up to 9-7 in the OEC race and 15-14 overall.

RCC scored the first run of the game in the third on a SS Nick King single that scored catcher Michael Deceglie.

Fullerton retaliated in the fifth to tie it up on a LF Vince Venegas single that allowed SS Christian Prado to cross the plate.

In the seventh, the Tigers repeated themselves on a King single scoring Deceglie breaking up the 1-1 tie.

FC took their first and only lead of the game on a two-run homer by CF Dakota Wix that drifted over the left field ivy.

The Tigers tied the game up 4-4 when 2b Austin Monte dropped on into right center scoring RF Cade Egri. RCC took over from there in the ninth scoring two runs on a RBI ground-out by 1b Paul Martinez and a single by DH/P Austin Sodders that scored CF Josh Clark.

Up Next: The Hornets will travel to Riverside City College this Tuesday, April 8th wrapping up the three-game series (1-1). The first pitch will be thrown at 2:00 pm.
