BASEBALL: HORNETS SWEEP SANTA ANA

The FC baseball squad finished off the Dons of Santa Ana College on Friday 12-9 completing the Orange Empire Conference three-game series.

The sweep helped propel the Hornets into first place in one of the toughest conferences in the state.

Game two of the series was played at Santa Ana on Thursday where the Hornets blanked the Dons 3-0. Runs were scored in the first, fourth, and fifth innings with pitcher Garrett Molnar grabbing his fourth win going 7 innings with 5 K's. Austin Mills came in to lock down his first save going 2 innings with a 1 strikeout.

Fullerton took back the lead late in the sixth inning and held on for the win in a game that was supposed to be played on Saturday. It moved up to Friday to avoid bad field conditions due to the rain.

With the game tied at 6 runs a piece on Friday, FC's Chase Kerr got it started hammering a double scoring Tate Brock and Thomas Delgadillo.

Fullerton knocked in 4 more runs in the seventh inning thanks to Monte Montenegro and Delgadillo driving in all of the runs needed for the win.

Jordan Wisner (1-2) earned the win for the Hornets going 1 inning and did not give up a hit. Relievers Lourence Kao, Gerardo Ramirez, and Nate Mendoza chipped in for the win with Ramirez taking his 3rd save of the season going 2 innings with 2 K's.

Up Next: Fullerton (12-9, 5-1) will look to build on their success when they play at Saddleback College (18-4 overall, 4-2 OEC) on Tuesday, March 20th. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
