BASEBALL: OFFENSIVE OUTBURST OVER OCC

The Hornet offense woke up at home Friday taking top-ranked Orange Coast College 9-6.

It was game three of the Orange Empire Conference series where Fullerton had lost the last two to the Pirates (9-4 and 4-0). The Hornets had three things stacked against them. They were playing a red-hot team with only one conference loss, the Pirates are ranked as the No. team in Southern California, and OCC had Keith "Superfan" Franklin on their side chanting hilarious sayings giving life into the Pirate's dugout and stands.

Falling behind 2-0 in the top of the second inning on a 2-run homer by David Morgan, FC went off in the in their next at bat scoring 8 runs on 7 hits. Tyler Becker singled through the left side scoring Eddie Ureno and Adrian Gonzalez.

Monte Montenegro cranked a double to deep left center scoring PJ Gordon and Becker. Ryan Stephens came up and singled to center field bringing in Monte Montenegro and Tony Accordino. Ureno came back up knocking a double to near the right field line allowing Gonzalez and Stephens the opportunity to cross home plate.

OCC got 3 runs back in the third on Tristan Hanoian's single to center field scoring Davis Delorefice and Tommy Williams. Todd Jackson hit into a fielder's choice bringing Morgan in from second.

FC starting pitcher Connor Tousignant had another strong outing earning the win on 7 innings with 5 hits against and 5 runs. Tuesday's starting pitcher Patrick Showalter came in to grab the save going 2 innings with 3 hits against.

Up Next: Fullerton (7-16 overall, 2-7 OEC) will play game one of the Orange Empire Conference series at Santa Ana College on Tuesday, March 26th. Game time is at 2:00 pm.
