FOOTBALL: FULLERTON FIRE POWER

The Hornets came out firing at Cerritos College Saturday night cutting down the Falcons 38-14.

The Hornets struck early and often in the first half as the first touchdown took 7 plays and 66 yards on a 7-yard run by RB Lavorrie Johnson (12:39 1Q).  WR Eli Pleaant scored next on a TD strike from Jose Escobar (4:24 1Q).  TE Kishon Sanders scored on a 13-yard pass by Escobar (10:35 2Q).  Derreck smith also scored on a 28-yard pass by Escobar (8:26 2Q).  Escobar scored on a pretty run from 26 yard out to put an exclamation mark on the half (1:04).

FC's only score in the second half was a 39-yard field goal by K Casey Eyman.

Cerritos College's scores came on a 99-yard TD interception return off of a deflected pass from the hands of a Hornet receiver (12:00 1Q) and a 1-yard TD plunge (1:46 3Q).

Fullerton's offense racked up 491 toal yards on the Falcons.

FC QB Jose Escobar had another solid outing going 21-27 for 283 with 4 TDs (3 pass/1 rush) with 1 interception. Escobar also rushed for 44 yards on 3 carries.  RB Ryan Byrd rushed for 109 yards on 14 carries while RB Lavorrie Johnson ran for 86 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown.

On defense, LB Justin Owens had 8 tackles (4 solo/4 assisted) and a forced fumble.  DB Treshon Broughton had 7 tackles (6 solo/1 assisted) as did LB Jordan Kessen (3 solo/4 assisted). DB Marnez Ogletree and DB Alex Berstein each had an interception.

Up Next:  The Hornets (2-0) will host Bakersfield College at Yorba Linda High's Shapell Stadium on Saturday, September 21st at 6:00 pm.
