FOOTBALL: RECORD BREAKING SCORE-FEST

The #1 Hornets hosted Grossmont College on Saturday night and won big 79-44 over the Griffins while breaking more records in the process.

Fullerton scored first and often while breaking the record for most points scored in a game with 79.  The previous mark was 70 points in 2009 at Moorpark College. 

Other Hornet records set were:
Most points scored in a quarter - 35 - Tied 1994 vs Southwestern, Mt. SAC 1974 
Most TDs in a half  - 6 - Tied 1997 vs Palomar, 1994 vs Southwestern, 1974 vs Mt. SAC
Most TDs in a game - 10   - Tied 2009 vs Moorpark

Grossmont dished out some offensive damage on the Hornets as well racking up 533 yards in the air and 146 yards on the ground.

FC QB Jose Escobar had another solid outing throwing 3 TDs with 283 yards and no interceptions.  RB Lavorrie Johnson ran for 128 yards with a TD.  His 57-yard run at the end of the third quarter was a beauty as he carried two players from ten yards out into the end zone.  RB Ryan Byrd ran for 68 yards and 2 TDs.  WR Ryan Longoria had 6 catches for 137 yards.  WR Eli Pleasant had two very nice punt returns for touchdowns called back on illegal blocks that were away from the ball. 

Hornet Kicker Ian Boozer had his best game as a Hornet going 3-3 on field goals (33, 42, 31) and 10-10 on PATS tying records set in 2009 against Moorpark (attempts in a game and PATS made).   

For the Hornet defense, DB Tyler Floyd had 10 tackles (5 solo/5 assisted) with 2 blocks (punt and PAT attempt).  Marnez Ogletree and Jordan Kessen both contributed 7 tackles.
