FOOTBALL: ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM LOADED WITH HORNETS

Fullerton College Football was filled with talent this 2019 season, and the program is now being rewarded for all of the hard work they did on the field as the SCFA has released the rosters for their All-Central Conference teams.

The Hornets combined to have 15 All-Central Conference players, eight being in the 1st team and seven in the 2nd team. Leading them all is the "Defensive Player of the Year" for the SCFA, Josh Tarango.

Tarango's "Defensive Player of the Year" nod marks the fifth consecutive time that a Hornet has won the award. He follows Thomas Cletcher (2015), Justin Parcells (2016), Montre Bonner (2017), and Joey Noble (2018).

The 6 foot 3 inch, 290lb freshman put on an absolute show on the defensive line for Fullerton this year. He logged 23 total tackles (9 solo, 14 assisted), 4 sacks (31 sack yards), and a fumble recovery in conference games.

Following Tarango, seven of his teammates joined him on the 2019 1st Team All-Conference:

Glenn Bernard, Center: The sophomore dropped 30lbs this season and he went on to lock it down at center, providing massive support for the offense.

Hunter Rison, WR: Rison went on an absolute tear once he joined the team this season. He had 28 receptions for 432 yards and tacked on 5 touchdowns in conference games. He averaged 86.4 yards per game and 15.4 yards per catch.

Kashan Griffin, KR: Griffin went off this season returning kicks. He logged 702 return yards and took it all the way to the house on four different occasions. His longest return was for 100 yards against Cerritos College. He broke the Fullerton College record for kicks returned for touchdowns in a season and was only 30 yards short of breaking the kickoff return yards in a season. Frankie Salazar in 1998 owns the record with 732 yards.

Branden Rankins, RB: The freshman tallied 337 rush yards and three touchdowns in conference games. He averaged 67.4 yards per game and 7.3 yards per rush.

Joe Christiansen, LB: The man from Servite was a force in 2019. He logged 38 tackles (15 solo, 23 assists) and had a sack. He averaged 7.8 tackles per game.

Xavion Steele, DB: Steele had 25 tackles in conference play (18 solo, 7 assists). He also logged a sack as well as an interception that he returned for a touchdown against Palomar.

Jacob Jones, S: The sophomore from La Habra racked up 46 tackles (27 solo, 19 assists), averaging 9.2 per game. Jones also logged two interceptions.

Fullerton also loaded up the 2nd Team All-Conference with seven players on that roster as well:

Spencer Owens, TE: The big sophomore provided support to an electric offense all of 2019. He averaged 12.5 yards per catch.

Kailan Noseff, WR: Noseff was extremely efficient for FC in 2019. He logged 218 yards and 5 touchdowns, averaging 43.6 yards per game and 16.8 yards per catch.

Quinn Commans, QB: Commans went 67-101 in his pass attempts. He tallied 917 yards (183.4 yards per game) and 10 touchdowns in conference games.

Alec Fonseca, K: Fonseca went 4 of 5 in field goals, with his longest being 36 yards. He also went 21 of 23 in PATs, logging a total of 33 points in conference games.

Cameron Proctor, DL: The sophomore from Maryland had 15 tackles (8 solo, 7 assists) and 3 sacks in conference games.
