Bio

Entering his 7th season as a member of the Fullerton College coaching staff, James Griffin will take his place on the sidelines as the offensive coordinator. He brings with him an exuberant amount of passion for the game, as well as the knowledge, and experience needed to make a difference amongst players this season.

Griffin began his football journey as a linebacker, at East High School in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was an All-State selection, a Tennessee State Player of the Year, and set several state records; including sacks in a season (29), sacks in a career (60), and blocked kicks (19).

After being recruited coast to coast, Griffin spent the next two years playing defensive back for Pasadena City College, where he led his team in tackles both seasons, was selected 1st team All- American in 2001, and was named National Junior College Player of the Year for 2002.

Coming off the 2002 season, Griffin made the decision to move across the country, and play his final two years of collegiate football at Virginia Tech University. A star defensive back for the Hokies, Griffin earned the title as Team Captain for the 2004 ACC Championship season, and played in the 2005 Senior Hula Bowl and 2005 Sugar Bowl.

For the next five years, Griffin continued his football journey as a part of the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars, IFL Alaska Wild, IFL Corpus Christi Hammerheads, and IFL San Jose Saber Cats organizations, where he acquired career ending injuries and shifted gears to pursuing a career in coaching.

While actively working as a Defensive Back Specialist Coach for Texas Prepstars, Griffin received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Tech University in 2011, as well as a Master of Science in Education/Coaching Degree from Northcentral University in 2013.
