The Fullerton College men's basketball team took one on the chin at home Wednesday night losing 84-64 to Saddleback College in a conference match-up.
The Gauchos jumped on the Hornets early in the game and did not let up. By the end of the first half Saddleback had outscored FC 20-0 off of turnovers. The half ended with Saddleback ahead 52-24.
For the game, Saddleback out-shot Fullerton 45.5% to 33.3%. The Gauchos largest lead of the game was 35 points with 17:57left in the game.
FC had no answers for the potent Gaucho offense as five Saddleback players scored in double digits: Andre McPhail (12), Eric Thompson (10), Dalante Dunklin (14), DJ Fietl (15), and De'Corrius Sampson-Young (11).
Guard Carnell Gray led the Hornets in scoring with 14 points while bringing down 4 rebounds. Forward Joel Brokenbrough scored 12 points with 6 rebounds and guard Roger Hamel contributed 10 points.
Up Next: FC (5-16, 1-5) will try and put it back together when they open the second half of Orange Empire Conference games at Santa Ana College this Friday, January 31st. Tip off is at 7:30 pm. The first time the Hornets and Dons met this season (January 8th) Fullerton fell 74-58 in a home game.
