At home, the Hornets let a 12-point lead slip in the second half falling in overtime Wednesday night to conference rival Cypress College 82-80.
The loss buckles the Hornets with an overall record of 5-18 and an Orange Empire Conference record of 1-7. The wins gives Cypress a 7-16 overall record and 2-6 OEC record.
FC ended the first half with a 38-32 lead shooting 47.1% from the floor. The Chargers shot 38.2%.
The second half began well for the Hornets as they grabbed a 12-point lead with seven minutes left in the game. Cypress proved resilient taking the lead (70-69) on a three-pointer by David Gonzalez with fifty-two seconds left. Fullerton took the lead back with thirty-two seconds left on a three-pointer by Roger Hamel (70-72). With seventeen seconds left in regulation, the Charger's Gonzalez hit a pair of free throws to tie the game.
In overtime, both teams went back in forth matching each other basket for basket until the final play shot of the game. With Cypress up 82-80, Fullerton went for the win shooting and missing a three-pointer with six seconds left on the clock. The Charger's Mark Townes came down with the rebound as the last second ticked off the clock.
