MEN'S BASKETBALL: MAKIN' POWER MOVES

The #10 SoCal Hornets brought down #2S San Bernardino Valley College on Wednesday 74-67 at the Riverside Holiday Tournament.

The win bumps FC's record to 10-3 overall, while the Wolverine loss gives them their second on the season with an overall record of 11-2. SBVC lost their previous game in the Glendale Tournament title match-up against #1S Antelope Valley College (9-0) 70-66.

It was a close hard-fought game that featured 8 ties and 9 lead changes.

The first half ended with SBVC edging Fullerton by two points 34-32.

Th Wolverines controlled the first ten minutes of the second half gaining their largest lead of the game at 53-44.

FC contiuned to chip away at the SBVC lead, unitl Blake McBride nailed a three-point shot giving the Hornets their first lead of the half (55-53).

Fullerton broke the game open in their favor 70-67 when Ian Fox hit a clutch three-pointer with a minute and half left in regulation. The Hornets extended the lead 74-67 on a couple of free throws by McBride to seal the game with 12 seconds left.

Fox gave another solid effort on the court scoring a team-high 21 points for the Hornets. He also had 6 assists. McBride played a big part in the win scoring 18 points, with 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Kenny Barnes put up 14 points and brought down 9 boards nearly missing a double-double.

Up Next: The Hornets (10-3) will play tonight in Riverside's Wheelock Gym at 5:00 pm against #3S Saddleback College. FC Head Coach Perry Webster will get his first crack at coaching against his mentor in Gaucho Head Coach Andy Ground. Webster played and was an assistant coach under Ground at Saddleback winning a state title as a player (2010) and as an assistant coach (2015).
