MEN'S BASKETBALL: SOCAL REGIONAL PLAYOFF MATCHUP

#6 seed Fullerton College will host #11 Cuesta College this Friday, February 26th in the Hornets Nest for the second round of the Southern California Regionals. 

The last time these two teams met was back on November 7th when FC opened up their season at the Cuesta Tournament. The Hornets fell in their second game of the season to the Cougars 71-62. The free throw line was the difference-maker as Cuesta (18-23, 78.3%) outshot Fullerton (2-4, 50%).

Led by first-year head coach Perry Webster, the Hornets have turned some heads this season with a 20-win season (21-7 overall), a feat that has not been done since the 2007-08 season. Fullerton tied for second place with Cypress College in the Orange Empire Conference in what was a dogfight for conference supremacy. In 28 games, the team averaged 70.1 points a game with a field goal percentage of 45.3. FC shoots 70% from the free throw line.

Hornets to Watch: Ian Fox, Blake McBride, Julian Richardson, and Kenny Barnes.

Rusty Blair has been at the helm for the Cougars since 1992 and brought much success to the program. This season, Cuesta achieved a 20-win season going 22-9 overall and were the second place team in the Western State-North Conference. In 31 games, the team averaged 75.1 points a game with a field goal percentage of 44.4%. From the free throw line, the Cougars shoot 66.4%.

Cougars to Watch: Roberto Mantovani, Rafail Eleftheriou, Karem Ozel, and Evgeniy Moiseev.
