MEN'S BASKETBALL: HORNETS HIT THE 2016 WALL

It was a rough night for the #4 Hornets on Friday night as they ended 2016 with an 89-68 home loss to #11 Compton College.

The loss sets Fullerton back with an overall record of 11-5, while the Tartar win lifts their record to 13-3.

The Hornets looked to be on the right track at the game's start with Ian Fox hitting a deep three-pointer. By the 16:27 mark FC had an 8-2 lead.

Compton soon awoke hitting two quick three-pointers to tie the game up at eight a piece (15:48). From there, the Tartars went on a 14-6 run to go up 22-14 with just over twelve minutes left in the half. By halftime, Compton held a 47-33 lead.

The second half was all Compton as they held Fullerton to 39% shooting from the field. By the five-minute mark, the Tartars had their largest lead of 31 (83-52).

The Compton shooters were on fire from three-point land hitting 7-9 at one point on the first half. Overall, they shot 51% from the field to FC's 39%.

FC's Ian Fox led the team in scoring with 22 points. He also brought down 4 rebounds. Kenny Barnes followed up with 18 points and 9 boards. Dillon Reise had 9 points with 6 rebounds and Johnathon Ross had 8 points with 8 boards.
