MEN'S BASKETBALL: GETTING PAST THE TIGERS

In a conference match-up, the Hornets won on the road against Riverside City College Wednesday night beating the Tigers 81-72.

The win keeps Fullerton undefeated in the Orange Empire Conference at 4-0 and gives them an overall record of 15-5. The Tiger loss sets them back in the OEC at 2-2 and lands them at 15-6 overall.

The first half of the game was tightly contested with three lead changes as both teams battled it out. Riverside held a 29-25 advantage with just over three minutes left in the half, but Fullerton went on a 12-5 run that turned the tide in their favor. Ian Fox's last second jumper gave the Hornets a 37-34 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, Fullerton maintained roughly a 10-point edge that kept RCC from getting over the hump. With 8:23 left in regulation, the Tigers came within six points of the Hornets on a jump shot by Brandon Thomas, but FC quickly wiped the threat away on a couple of free throws by Nick Anderson and a jumper by Ian Fox.

The Hornets shot 60% (30 of 50) for the game, including 55.6% (15 of 27) in the first half. Conversely, the Tigers managed only 42.9% (21 of 49) for the game.

Ian Fox turned in a solid game for the Hornets with a game-high 18 points. Sophomore Dillon Reise added 17 points and had a game-high 9 rebounds. Sophomore Jonathan Ross helped out with a 10 point effort. Freshman Kendall Lauderdale and sophomore Kenny Barnes both dropped in 8 points each.

Up Next: The Hornets (15-5, 4-0) will host Orange Coast College this Friday, January 20th at 7:00 pm. It is the first annual Khloe Kares game so please help our local homeless women by donating new toiletries to the game.
