The FC men’s soccer team played a tough Orange Empire Conference match at Cypress College on Friday afternoon and fought hard against their district rival to a 1-1 tie.

The FC men's soccer team played a tough Orange Empire Conference match at Cypress College on Friday afternoon and fought hard against their district rival to a 1-1 tie.
The tie gives Fullerton an overall record of 2-4-3 overall with a an OEC record of 1-0-1, while the Chargers now sport an overall record of 5-1-3 with an OEC record of 1-0-1.
After a scoreless first half, the Hornets struck first when Josiahs Palacios found the back of the net in the 57th minute off an assist from Michael Espinoza for a 1-0 lead. The goal was Palacios' 6th of the season. The Chargers answered late in the match when Jesse Gonzalez equalized in the 80th minute to even the score at 1-1, where it would remain until the final whistle.
Defensively, Hornet goalkeeper Steven Martinez held strong between the posts recording 2 key saves while facing 3 shots on goal over 90 minutes of play. Fullerton's backline helped contain the Charger's offensive threats for much of the match.
Up Next: The Hornets (2-4-3 overall, 1-0-1 OEC) will look to put one in the win column when they head back out on the road on Tuesday, October 7th for another Orange Empire Conference matchup at Santiago Canyon College. Match time is at 3:00 pm.
