SWIM & DIVE: PASADENA INVITE

The Fullerton College swim & dive team competed at the Pasadena City College Invitational last Friday and Saturday with the men taking 5th out of 20 teams with 201 points. The women placed 10th overall with 104 total points.

An amazing 18 meet records were broken at the 15th Pasadena Invite at Pasadena City College's Aquatic Center. 

On the men's side, Golden West College scored 767 points to win the team title with Diablo Valley taking second (684), Orange Coast third (442), Mt. San Antonio fourth (409.5) and Fullerton fifth (201).

The Rustlers set five meet relay records and Bradley Toland shattered the 100-yard butterfly record. For DVC, Brandon James set new records in the 100 and 200 backstroke.

Tom Beckleheimer took 1st overall in the 3m dive competition 2nd in the 1m.

Individually, FC's own Joe Babbitt placed fifth overall for individual points with 58.

For the women, Fullerton placed 10th overall (104 points) out of 19 teams. Orange Coast College coasted to 673.5 points and won the team title over Golden West (478), Diablo Valley (468), and Santa Barbara CC (414.5). Host Pasadena placed fifth at 316 and fellow South Coast school East Los Angeles had a strong showing in sixth (264).

Golden West's Madison Varisco shattered meet records in the 100-yard and 200 backstroke. The Rustlers' women set three meet relay records and Diablo Valley one relay mark. SBCC's Rachelle Visser set the other women's record on Saturday with her swim in the 200 IM. DVC's Lauren Woods broke the 50 and 100 freestyle marks and East Los Angeles'

Yingfei Zhang set a new record in the 200 breaststroke. In all, 10 women's records fell.
