M. TRACK & FIELD: OEC SHOWDOWN

Fullerton College Men's Track and Field opened their season at Golden West College this past Friday, along with Riverside and Santa Ana. The Hornets were excited to get the season underway and see how all of their fall training is starting to pay off.

Jeff Pulcher started the meet off with a strong showing in the Javelin placing 3rd with a throw of 41.98m or 137 feet, 9 inches. Jeff was followed closely by Juan O'Campo and Javier Weatherspoon respectfully 5th and 6th. In other field events held, Freshman Gavin Proctor started the season by competing and leading the Hornets in both the high jump and long jump. Placing 7th and 6th respectfully.

On the track, Jonathan Baek started his hard day, with a strong 6th place finish in the 400, only to follow that up with a 7th place in the 400 IM Hurdles and then less than an hour later, a spot on the 4x 400 relay team. He continues to put in quality workouts, which will pay off later this season.

Brandon Velasco had a solid day, placing 7th in the 1500, and then leading for 90% of the 3000-meter race before being overtaken and fading to 4th place.

"While the results of this early meet don't show a lot of wins, the work and effort the team showed, will pay dividends at the end of the season when it really counts", Head Coach Wade Watkins.
