MEN'S TRACK & FIELD: VICTORIOUS OVER SANTA ANA & GOLDEN WEST

The Hornet track team took advantage of a rare home meet in defeating both Santa Ana and Golden West Colleges.

The throwers were the big performers of the day as they led a 1-2-3 sweep in the Shot Put, Discus, and Hammer Throw and placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the Javelin.

Reggie Sumolang won the Shot and Discus with teammate Shane Daley taking 2nd in both events. Jonathan Rodriguez Lopez was 3rd in the Shot, and Armando Batista was 3rd in the Discus.

In the Hammer Throw, Shane Daley took the victory with Rodriguez-Lopez taking 2nd and Sumolang taking 3rd.

The Hornets' dominance in the throwing events led to a critical number of points that would lead them to the win.

In other events, Will Mcteggart jumped 6.30m (20' 8") to win the Long Jump, with teammate Monty Dorsey taking 3rd in 5.87m (19' 4").

Johnathan Smith took 2nd in the 100m in 11.22 seconds and Mark Fernando was 2nd in the 110m High Hurdles.

Distance runner Andrew Fernando took 3rd in both the 1500m and 5000m.

Up Next: The Hornets take a breather this week for Spring Break, but will be back April 5-6 at the Glendale College Invitational.
