In their inaugural season, the Hornets played in their first ever playoff game last Friday at Long Beach City College. Coming in as the #6 seed against the #3 Vikings, Fullerton lost 3-0 (9-25, 20-25, 21-25).
In game one, the Vikings came out clicking jumping out to a 17-5 lead. FC had no answer and lost it 25-9.
The Hornets had some fight in game two after falling behind 7-0. They rallied back to tie it up with LBCC 14-14, but the Vikings pulled off a 25-19 win over the combative Fullerton squad.
In game three, the Hornets held 5-4, 7-6, and 9-8 leads, but Long Beach proved they were the better team pulling off a 25-21 victory.
FC's Manny Andrade had a team-high 13 kills with 2 digs and 2 block assists. Kyle Young had 7 kills with 2 aces and 2 digs. Dale Irvin had 6 digs, 2 aces, and 23 assists.
It was a fine first-season for the Hornets who have already made an impact in the sport. Look for great things to come from head coach Eddie Rapp's teams in the seasons to come.
