CROSS COUNTRY: GOLDEN WEST INVITE

Fullerton fared well at the Golden West Invitational held on Friday at Central Park in Huntington Beach.

The men's team placed 13th out of 21 teams with Brandon Velasco leading the pack taking 22nd out of 197 runners with a finishing time of 21:01.2. Johnny Nava came in at 21.57.0 placing 66th and Matthew Castillo came though at 22:28.0 placing 87th.

"It is an improvement with times from a week ago. They continue to work on grouping and their times are showing the closeness of which they run as a tighter group. Brandon Velasco is on the edge of breaking in to the 20's with his four mile time. This race presented good personal records with mile splits. This is our third race so far in the season. Look for the top five to seven runners to come in closer together in the next race, Head Coach Gina Bevec.

The team leader of the day was College College of the Canyons with a total time of 1:41:47.00 and the individual leader was Canyon's Rodrigo Ornelas who finished with a time of 20:05.9.
