The Fullerton College softball squad opened up their season in grand fashion on Wednesday enforcing the Mercy-rule on Chaffey College 8-0 on the road.

The score was locked at zeros until the Hornet offense exploded with 4 runs in the third inning. Alexandria Avila got things going on a three-run triple scoring Breana Pineda, Alyssa Nava, and Monique Pineda.  Avila went on to score on a SAC fly by Bianca Espinoza.

Fullerton struck again in the fourth inning with three more runs.  Mercedes Dozal moved Elesiah Weiston across home plate on a single to left field.  Monique Pineda and Dozal scored on an error.

Kaylenne McClure scored the final run on the day in the fifth on a 5-3 SAC by Weistron.

FC starting pitcher Alyssa Felipe (1-0) threw 5 innings of no-hit softball.  She had 2 strikeouts and a walk.

Up Next: The Hornets (1-0) will play in the College of the Desert Tournament this weekend (January 30-31).
