MERCY-RULING THE BOBCATS

The FC softball team took care of business at home Friday earning an Orange Conference Empire mercy-rule-win against Saddleback College 10-0.

It was a needed win for Fullerton, who took a harsh 7-2 road-loss on Wednesday against OEC rival Santiago Canyon. Now 9-7-1 overall and 4-3 in the conference, the Hornets look to keep pace with Santa Ana (7-0), Santiago Canyon (6-2), and Cypress (6-1). The Bobcat loss bumps the team to 6-11 overall and 2-5 in the OEC.

Getting the start in the circle and the win was Emily Flores (4-2) who tossed 2 innings of no-hit softball with 1 K. Isabella Najera came in for 2 innings allowing only 1 hit, and Nicole Gonzalez finished it with no hits allowed, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout.

The Hornets did not waste any time getting on the board grabbing two runs on Madison Pevehouse's hit up the middle scoring Ariana Gonzalez, and Olivia Nunez's single to right plating Dee Ramirez.

Fullerton came out swinging in the second inning adding five runs to go up 7-0. With the bases loaded, Ariana Gonzalez knocked a single through the left side scoring Rachel VarelaDee Ramirez took one for the team getting hit by a pitch forcing in Skye Samano. Madison Pevehouse did some more damage smacking a doubled right field scoring Gonzalez and Bella MoralesOlivia Nunez popped a singled to left center that brought Pevehouse home.

In the bottom of the third, FC brought three more runs across to insure the win. Monique Rangel reached on a fielder's choice giving Rachel Varela the chance to come home. Dee Ramirez singled to left field and Skye Samano crossed the plate. With her third hit of the day, Pevehouse (3-3 / 4 RBI) hit a hard single up the middle scoring Rangel.
