WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: HOME OPENER WIN

The FC women's basketball team played their first home game of the season beating El Camino College 74-70.

Fullerton and El Camino battled it out earlier this month (Nov. 10) in the third place game of the West L.A. College Tournament. The Warriors got the best of the Hornets in a close one 63-60.

Fullerton came out hot as Moriah Serrano drained a three-pointer to open the game, and the Hornets went on an early 14-3 run. Stunned by FC's press, the Warriors looked out of sync. FC ended the first quarter with a 17-9 lead.

In the second quarter El Camino fought back cutting the Hornet lead down to 5 (26-21), but Tristian John's three-pointer at 3:59 swung the momentum back in FC's favor. Fullerton held a 33-25 lead by halftime.

The Warriors made their run late in the third quarter getting within 1 point of Fullerton 42-41, but as the final seconds ticked off the clock Serrano dropped a three-pointer thwarting the Warrior's best effort.

The fourth quarter and the game belonged to the Hornets as they moved in on El Camino taking their largest lead of 13 (54-41) at 8:12 on another three by Johns. A very good team, El Camino did their best to get back in it, but FC was too strong in the end.

Aliyah-Deen Ahmad had a big game scoring a game-high 22 points, with 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. Tristian Johns scored 13 with 8 boards, while Moriah Serrano dropped in 11 points. Fia Tailele-Latu (6 rebounds) and Hannah Jones (5 rebounds) both put up 7 points.

Up Next: Fullerton (2-2 overall) will play again this Saturday, December 1st when they welcome the Colleen Riley Hornet Alumni team. The game will be played in the North Gym at 5:00 pm.
