WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: TWO IN A ROW & LOOKING FOR MORE

The Hornets traveled down to Saddleback College on Friday night and won their second conference game in a row knocking off the Gauchos 77-62.

Now tied for third place in the conference with Copper Mountain and Riverside, FC is now 10-8 overall and 2-2 in the Orange Empire Conference. Saddleback's record bumps down to 3-11 overall and 0-4 in the OEC.

Fullerton jumped out to a 9-5 lead early in the first quarter and did not let up. They went on to take their biggest lead of the game of 15 (30-16) with 5 minutes left in the first half.

The Hornets kept the Gaucho offense in check throughout the second half averaging an 8-point lead until the last 4 minutes of the game. Up 66-56, FC finished strong towards the end going on an 11-8 run that clinched the victory.

It was another strong night in the paint for Fullerton as they outscored Saddleback 40-22. FC also had another solid night shooting 49.2% to the Gaucho's 35.5%.

Saddleback's Raven Herrington kept the Hornets on their toes scoring a game-high 26 points. Joyce Beda added 16 points with 20 rebounds.

Leading the charge for the Hornets was Tristian Johns, who dropped in 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Hannah Jones scored 18 points, and Fia Tailele-Latu put up 16 with 4 assists. Moriah Serrano had 8 points and Shenise West had 7 with 12 rebounds.

Up Next: The Hornets (10-8 overall, 2-2 OEC) will host Cypress College on Wednesday, January 23rd at 7:00 pm.
