WOMEN'S SOCCER: KEEP THE PACE

The FC women's soccer team had a nice 3-1 road win at Orange Coast College on Friday keeping pace with Cypress for the top spot in the Orange Empire Conference.

With the season now at its mid-way point, there is a logjam at the top of the conference standings with Cypress (6-0-2) in first place ahead of Fullerton (5-1-2) by only a game. Santiago Canyon (5-2-1), who has owned the conference title the last 15 consecutive seasons, can claim first with the blink of an eye.

The Hornets came out firing early scoring the game's first goal at the 4:58 mark. Morgan Dack took the feed from Kaelah Basurto and knocked the ball past the OCC goalie.

The Pirates tied the game up in the 25th minute on a shot by Lynette Romero.

Audrey Ochoa got on the stat sheet with an assist to Rocio Martinez-Marquina, whose goal gave FC a 2-1 lead.

Jacqueline Ramirez  put the game away with less than 3 minutes to spare in the game. Dack was credited with the assist.

Goalie Kayla Ippolito had a good day for the Hornets allowing only a goal with 8 saves.

Up Next: The Hornets (10-2-2 overall, 5-1-2 conference) will host Irvine Valley College this Tuesday, October 29th in a conference match at 3:00 pm.
