W. TRACK & FIELD: HOME OEC MEET

The Lady Hornet's posted 24 season best performances in their first home meet of the season on Friday against Orange Coast and Santiago Canyon College.

"We suffered two losses against these schools, however the teams performances were the highlights of the meet" said Coach Bevec.

The scores were Fullerton 64 points - Santiago Canyon 75 points and Fullerton 23 - Orange Coast 125 points. "It is still early in the season and I know there is more to come with this team", posted Coach Bevec.

The day started off with big throws in the Javelin and Michelle Carter winning the event and throwing a personal record of 102'2". Teammate Rebecca De Iorio took second with a second season best performance of 97'11". These two young ladies are ranked first and second in the OEC and Michelle is ranked 8th and Rebecca is 10th in SO CA competition. Mia Wells confirmed third place in both Shot Put 28'9", Discus 93'10", and Hammer 74'11".

Vanessa Franco had a great meet shaving off four seconds in her 400M Hurdle (1:07.32) race and running for the easy win. She is currently ranked second in OEC and 4th in SO CA competition. She was part of the 1600M relay team with Taylor Morico, Daniela Rubio, and Tia Streeter who posted an 11 second season best of 4:22.53. Vanessa Franco also challenged herself in the Long Jump 16'3.75" and Triple Jump 32'1". Tia Streeter ran for second place in the 800M and gave herself a three second PR (personal record) in 2:26.73.

In the middle distance events Daisy Esparza performed with great poise in the 3000M run finishing third overall and a four second PR in 11:02.08 and right behind her was Maegan Garritson claiming fifth with 11:12.14 for her PR of the season.

Up Next: The Hornets will host the Orange Empire Conference Heptathlon/Decathlon March 13-14.
