WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: OEC INVITE

The OEC Invite was hosted by Riverside City College, and the ladies finished fourth overall with 55 points.

Double champion was sophomore Myrna Gillas, who jumped 16' 3.25" in the long jump and an easy high jump of 4' 11.75".  She still leads the SoCal rankings in the high jump.

Sophomore, Kim Mataia took second in the shot put with a mark just shy of her best throw heaving the shot 35'8".  This effort has her ranked in seventh place in SoCAl.  Mataia also had a 15-foot season best improvement in the hammer of 115' 0" (9th in SoCal). She finished up her meet with a 103' 0" PR (personal record) in the discus for third place.

Alexis Kotey was fourth in the discus with a toss of 102' 4".  Kotey's best event of the day was the hammer with an impressive 20 foot improvement at 101' 0".

Angellee Vernon threw 100' 5" in the hammer, a 20-foot improvement.

Roxanne Cuevas was gearing up for her heptathlon and had competed in the shot put and javelin events. In the  javelin, she improved her throw to a respectable 74' 45". 

Samantha Starkey ran in both relays and gave herself a season best time in the 200 meters of 29.02.

Alicia Victoria ran her first 400-meter hurdle race and finished in third with 1:11.47.  She is currently ranked in fifth place in SO CA with that time. 

Alicia Vernon also ran in both relays and the 400M H.
