WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: GILLAS STATE HIGH JUMP CHAMP!

The Lady Hornets finished out their season at the State Track & Field Championships at San Mateo College over the weekend, but not before Myna Gillas claimed the State Title in the High Jump.

All-American sophomore, Myrna Gillas was crowned the 2019 State Track and Field High Jump Champion with a jump of 5'7". She made every jump on the first attempt at every height giving her the best advantage with makes over the bar.

"I am so happy" said Gillas of her efforts. In her long jump event, she had given herself her best jump of the year on her sixth attempt with a 17'10.25" effort for seventh place.

In rainy conditions, freshman Alicia Victoria competed in the 400m Hurdles running her best time of the year at 1:05.68 with a fifth place finish.

"This was definitely a good race, and I'm very excited to be here", said Victoria.

Both women represented the Hornets well finishing in 18th place with 16 points scored.
