The Hornets stunned #2 Golden West and #1 Riverside at the Orange Empire Conference Championships over the weekend taking the conference title for the second time in three years.
In the first game against Cypress on Thursday, Fullerton made quick work of the Chargers beating them 17-3. Marissa Vaccher led the way scoring 6 goals with 3 assists. State goal leader Gabbi Perez (175 total goals) tossed in 3 goals and had 6 assists. Veronica Ramirez also put in 3 goals and had 2 assists. Bianca Vera had 4 goals with an assist.
Later that day, FC had to face Golden West College, a team that had twice beaten the Hornets this season. Fullerton took revenge for those losses beating the Rustlers 7-6. Gabbi Perez scored more than half of the goals with 4. Chloe Sanchez, Bianca Vera, and Marissa Vaccher each scored a goal contributing to the win.
On Saturday, the Hornets took on Riverside City College for the OEC title game and handed the Tigers their second loss of the season, 9-8. RCC had beaten Fullerton earlier this season. Gabbi Perez was unstoppable throwing in 6 goals with 2 assists. Vaccher dropped in 2 goals and Vera accounted for 1 goal.
The OEC Championships were hosted by Saddleback College and were played November 3-5.
Up Next: Fullerton advances to the Southern California Championships where they have the chance to move on to the State Championships. The SoCal Championships will take place at Golden West College November 10-12. The #2 Hornets will play the winner of the #7 Ventura #10 Cerritos game on Friday, November 11th at 11:30 am.
