Fullerton went undefeated over the weekend at the Cuesta College tournament and in the process beat the No. 1 team in the state.
On Saturday, FC avenged a loss from a couple of weeks ago against top-ranked Santa Barbara 10-8. After losing by a goal (12-11) to the Vaqueros on September 21st, the Hornets broke through with a stingy defense and efficient offense to end the Vaqueros' 25-game win streak. SBCC's last loss came on Oct. 21, 2017 when another Orange Empire Conference team in Orange Coast beat the Vaqs 12-7. Later on Saturday, the Hornets went on to beat the tournament host Cuesta 16-9.
On Sunday, Fullerton clinched the tournament title beating Long Beach 14-7 and Delta 11-5. FC had barely beaten LBCC 8-7 on September 21st, but came out hot scoring early and often getting the jump on a solid Viking squad.
