WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: SOCAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

After a strong showing at the Southern California Regionals, two FC runners qualified for the State Championships in Raquel Aldama and Rebecca Perez.

"Training had been good the past two weeks as they were prepping for this race. It gave them the confidence to push themselves for their best performance so far this season, Hornet Head Coach Gina Bevec.

As a team, the Hornets just missed the mark of the top 14 teams to advance for state placing in 17th overall (486 points out of 26 full teams).

Individually, Aldama and Perez finished in the top half of the race as they ran side by side shaving off seconds for their best race of the season. They crossed the finish line almost together at 20:18.0 and 20:18.4, placeong 62nd and 63rd out of 177 runners.

Bryseda Lopez-Martinez had her best race of the season with almost a minute PR of 21:39 for our third lady to cross the line.

Ashley Lord trailed 28 seconds later across the line for her best race of the season and closed in on teammate Briseyda. Low score wins in this event and the ladies had been working on closing the gaps between them.

"It helped to have our top two runners running alongside each other for this race", claimed Bevec.

Kimberly Estrada-Rodriguez finished out the top five with not her second best performance of the season of 27:30.

Up Next: The State Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 17th at Woodward Park, Fresno at 10:00 am.
