BASEBALL: HORNETS OVERWHELM EAGLES

The FC baseball team took the field at home on Tuesday handing Mt. San Jacinto a 12-0 loss.

The win elevates Fullerton's overall record to 8-1, while the loss lands the Eagles at 4-6 for the season.

The game was scoreless through the bottom of the fourth, until the Hornets exploded for six runs. Laine Huffman got it going on a single to right center field and then Shane Carrier knocked him in on a triple to right center. Andrew Piraino singled up the middle scoring Carrier. Brett Halasz singled to left scoring Piraino. Daniel Tuerffs cracked a single through the left side allowing Halasz and Piraino to cross home plate. Joey Parente kept it going with a triple to center scoring Tuerffs.

In the sixth, Fullerton dropped another five runs, and then one more in the seventh to go up 12-0.

FC starting pitcher Junior Ramirez got the start and earned his second win for the season going 7 strong innings allowing 5 hits, no runs, and 4 strikeouts. RP Logan Lannon came in for the 8th inning and gave up 3 hits with no runs allowed. RP Louis Corral finished off the ninth with a scoreless effort to wrap up the victory.

In all, Fullerton had 16 hits on the day with Piraino leading the way going 3-4 at the plate with 3 runs scored. Halasz went 3-3 with 2 runs.  Carrier went 3-4 with a run.

Up Next: The Hornets (8-1) will play at Cerritos College this Thursday, February 25th @ 2:00 pm.
