BASEBALL: TOUGH LOSS AT THE PLATE

The Hornets hosted College of the Canyons on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup and lost a close one to the Cougars 8-7.

FC fought hard down to the last play of the game when Andrew Piraino tried to steal home on a wild pitch and was thrown out (2-1 put-out) to end the contest.

The loss gives FC their second on the season with an overall record of 9-2, while the Cougar win bumps them up to 9-1 on the season.

FC starting pitcher Randall Ortiz (2-1) took his first loss of the season going 5 innings with 4 earned runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts.

At eh plate Anthony Parente led the way with 4 hits 2 runs, and 1 RBI. Laine Huffman had 2 hits with a runs scored and Austin O'Banion had 2 hits with a RBI. David Miranda had a hit, a run, and 3 RBI.

Up Next: The Hornets (9-2) will play at Mt. San Antonio College on Tuesday, March 1st @ 6:00 pm.
