BASEBALL: RUNNING PAST THE DONS

After defeating #1 SoCal Santa Ana on the road 14-2 on Saturday, the #4 Hornets kept it going on Tuesday scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth for a 9-8 walk-off victory at home.

The Orange Empire Conference win gives FC a conference record of 5-0 with an overall record of 15-2. The Don loss settles them at 2-3 in the OEC and 14-4 overall.

Fullerton struck in the first inning scoring three runs on a single by Laine Huffman scoring Justin Row, a Shane Carrier single to right scoring Huffman, and a fielder's choice by David Miranda scoring Austin O'Banion.

Santa Ana continued to chip away at the FC lead scoring runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings. They took blew up in the seventh and eighth innings scoring three and two runs taking an 8-5 lead on the Hornets.

In the bottom of the ninth, Laine Huffman led it off taking a walk. Row came up and was hit by a pitch. With two on and no outs, O'Banion came up to the plate and blasted a triple to right center field bringing two runs in. Carrier followed up with a double to left bringing in the tying run. Carrier then advanced to third on a 6-3 groundout by Josh Balbuena. With one out and a man on third, Miranda stepped up and hit a shot to left center scoring Carrier for the walk-off win.

Louis Corral earned the win going 1.2 innings with 3 hits against, no runs, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.

The Hornet's Carrier was 3-5 on the day with a run and 3 RBI. Row was 2-2 with 3 walks, 3 runs, and a RBI. O'Banion was 2-5 with 2 runs and 2 RBI.
